How a change reaches the app

Amounts, deadlines and consequences live in rule packs that are separate from the app. That is how a change in the law reaches you within days, not with the next release.

  1. 1

    Official sources are watched

Every source a rule pack cites – statutes, regulations, the authorities' tariffs – is checked regularly for changes.

  2. 2

    A person checks every change

No amount is ever changed automatically. Each change is read, entered and verified before it is published.

  3. 3

    The app updates itself

The app looks for new rule packs at most once a day and installs them only if every file matches its checksum. Otherwise it keeps the rules it has.

For the technically curious

The app downloads the manifest, compares its revision with the one it has, and fetches only the files whose SHA-256 checksum has changed. A set is installed only if every file matches its checksum and every rule pack loads. If anything fails, the app keeps the rules it has.

Translations

German is the source text and English is part of every rule pack. The other 11 languages are separate files, one per country and language.
